A friend or neighbor could handle your day-to-day money matterst - the low cost may be appealing - but this can be risky as personal financial matters grow more complicated. You also need to keep in mind the risk of elder financial abuse.

You could have a CPA or attorney deal with these tasks for you or your older relative, but the cost is likely to be much lower by using a  Daily Money Manager. Personal money matters need to be taken care of on a regular basis.It makes sense to let a Daily Money Manager handle everyday financial  tasks and have the professional review periodically. 

Daily Money Managers  handle highly personal and  confidential matters for their clients. Always ask for a referral from someone you  know and trust, such as a friend, relative, lawyer, or accountant. If you must hire an  “unknown” person, ask a few qualifying questions before engaging into a  formal agreement such as: terms of engagement, scope of work,  insurance coverage, education, collaboration with family members and other professionals, costs & billing, and references.

Daily Money Managers  work as a team with other financial  professionals to ensure that a client’s needs are all addressed in a timely manner:

• Accountants receive relevant tax receipts or documents
• Estate attorneys are kept informed of any life changes critical to keeping an estate plan current.
• Insurance agents are made aware of changes to property holdings or changes that  impact the beneficiary; insurance premiums are paid on time.
• Financial advisors are kept up to date with the client’s daily finances for  long-term planning purposes.
• Guardians and trustees are provided with a  third-party to oversee accounts, make payments, and prepare financial reports.
• Geriatric care managers are contacted if the client/family needs such assistance.

Fees may be charged hourly or based on a particular project. Predominant rates in this area are between $75 and $125 per hour. We will address this in your introductory meeting.
